SO WHAT'S THIS I HEAR ABOUT A FESTIVAL?
The 12th annual SLO Comedy Festival will take place in San Luis Obispo, CA, February 23-26, 2023. This event will be for comedians from around the globe to get together, have a great time, network, and showcase their talent.

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH SUBMISSIONS?
We are accepting submissions from all comedians who would like to attend this years festival. We are looking for working professional comedians in the industry, hardcore road dawgs, and newer comics that are fresh on the scene. The goal of this festival is to bring great comics together in order to create an amazing opportunity. A committee panel will review and select the successful candidates. All comedians from around the world are invited for consideration in making the line-up for the SLO Comedy Festival.

COVID, HAVE YOU HEARD OF IT?

Yes, we have not been living under a rock. We have been working with the local health department, and all of our venues, to ensure a safe festival for all to enjoy. All comedians will be required to adhere to any new Covid policies, should a new wave arise.

WILL ACCOMMODATION BE PROVIDED?
Sort of, since COVID is still hanging around, we will not be providing comedian accommodation. However, if you are chosen to perform at the festival, a room voucher of $150 will be available for each comedian. We have worked out an amazing deal with our hotel sponsor. You will need to book with the festival hotel directly in order to receive the voucher and the discount. Vouchers are stackable.

I LOVE TO EAT, WILL FOOD AND DRINK BE PROVIDED?
YES, free food and drink is provided throughout the weekend. We also have discounts worked out with all the venues on food, so if you don't like what we are offering, grab some grub with discounts ranging from 10-50%. Just show them your "Comedian Pass." Every year we strive to give every comedian as much as legally possible.

MY MOM THINKS I'M FUNNY, HOW DO I SUBMIT?
Submitting for the festival is as follows; complete a submission form and include a YouTUBE or Vimeo link of a video 5 minutes of material in length. It does not have to be from one set, a "best of" highlight reel is just as good, limited edits are best. If you have a club recommendation please include it, all recommendations will be verified. Once the submission form is completed you must finalize your entry by paying with PayPal.

DO YOU BOOK ANY COMEDIANS FOR THE FESTIVAL?
YES, we book a few comedians. Please do not ask for a booked spot, they have already been allocated. The easiest way to be a part of the "Funny 40" is to fill out a submission form.

CAN I DO THE FESTIVAL MULTIPLE YEARS?
Yes, but due to overwhelming interest, there are restrictions. If you performed last year, you will be eligible next year. If you performed multiple years (2 or more) you must sit out 3 years between appearances. This helps us rotate in more comedians. We aim to get as many (new to the festival) comedians as we can each year. Just because you were selected in previous years, does not mean you are a shoe in. Every year is a fresh start.

I HAVE A KILLER 67 MINUTE VIDEO, CAN I SEND A LINK OF THAT?
ABSOLUTELY, the only thing is, we are not going to watch more than the first 5 minutes. After that, we are on to the next submission. It is best to have the video start with you. We do not need to see the M.C. introduce you, remember it is only a 5 minute video.

HOW MUCH WILL THIS SET ME BACK?
Sept. 12th - Sept. 30th, 2022  .......  $30  (Eager Beaver)
Oct. 1st - Oct. 31st, 2022  .............  $35  (ON IT!)
Nov. 1st - Nov. 30th, 2022  ...........  $40  (Dilly-Dallying)
Dec. 1st - Dec. 31st, 2022  ............  $45  (Procrastination)
Jan. 1st - Jan 6th, 2023  .................  $50  (REALLY!?!?)

CAN I PAY YOU IN GOATS?
All U.S. and international submissions must be paid in full with US Dollars, US DOLLARS ONLY!!!

WHEN IS THE CUTOFF?
The festival submission deadline is Friday, January 6th, 2023.

WHAT ARE MY CHANCES OF BEING CHOSEN TO PARTICIPATE?
Participation is contingent upon the total number of eligible submissions received.

I ALREADY KNOW I MADE THE CUT, WHEN WILL EVERYONE ELSE FIND OUT?
The line up for the festival will be announced on January 19, 2023. Only comedians that made the festival line-up will be notified by email.

WHAT IF YOU DON’T PICK ME? I WANT MY MONEY BACK JACK!
Sorry Charlie, all submission fees are nonrefundable. Work on your video, and resubmit for next year!

I DIDN'T MAKE THE "FUNNY 40", CAN I STILL HANG OUT WITH EVERYONE?
ABSOLUTELY! There will be a showcase show for all comedians that did not make the "Funny 40." If you submitted to the festival, you are more than welcome to perform in the SLOcase and Poisoned. We'd love to see you at all the shows and after parties. Just confirm with us by Feb 10th 2023

DO I GET FULL ENTRY INTO ALL THE SHOWS?
Well, sort of. There will be a PASS for you when you check in. This will enable you to enter any show, as long as there's space. TICKET HOLDERS GET PRIORITY!
